An eight-year-old Labrador Cross, who has sadly spent over 11 months without a single adoption viewing, is struggling to find her forever home. Can you help?
Oreo was brought into the Woodgreen Pets Charity Rehoming Center in Cambridgeshire last July after her owner was no longer in a position to care for her. While waiting to be rehomed, Oreo has been in the care of dedicated Woodgreen fosterers Alison and Taff Squire.
“Don’t be deceived by Oreo’s age – she’s still full of beans! She’s very intelligent, more so than she lets on, and you see the best of her out on walks with her nose down sniffing and her tail wagging. Although Oreo doesn’t “t like playing too much, we enjoy the occasional chase around the garden. She’s happiest either sitting in the sunshine looking out of the window or by your side. She really is a great companion,” says Taff.
“Oreo is the best dog ever because she’s so loving, and she’s settled into our home really well. We’ve got closer and closer to her over the last few months and she’s a real joy and comfort to be around.”
Sadly, Woodgreen believes she has been overlooked by potential new owners because she is one of the many dogs at the center who have ongoing medical and behavioral needs.
Natalie Powdrill-Wells from Woodgreen says: “It won’t always be easy and there will be challenges along the way, but the rewards will be immense. You’ll have to love them as they are, quirks and all, and recognize that they may never be the perfect all-round dog who can happily interact with strangers and other pets. But in the comfort of their home, where they can relax, they’ll be a wonderful addition to your family and will repay your commitment many times over.”
If you want to adopt Oreo, Woodgreen staff say that she would benefit from living in a home that has no young children or other dogs or cats. She would also be best suited in a home where her owner or owners are home for most of the day, such as those who work from home.
If you can offer Oreo her perfect forever home, please start your rehoming journey on the Woodgreen website.
