Guide Dogs digital hub CatchUp releases new features

The Guide Dogs Australia free digital hub, CatchUp, has launched a host of new features in the last few weeks to enhance connection amongst the low vision and blind community.

Endeavoring to find creative ways to improve user experience, CatchUp says it has launched several digital hub updates off the back of client feedback, including a highly sought-after events feature.

“With the update, members can now find events of interest hosted by various providers across the country. With options spanning across categories such as sport, the arts, education, and more, the feature update has been welcomed as a comprehensive way to facilitate connection opportunities within the low vision and blind community,” says Guide Dogs.

Earlier this year, Guide Dogs Australia launched CatchUp as an online community hub designed to foster connections, provide education opportunities, and offer support for people with low vision or blindness.



CatchUp Members can access regular news articles in the hub, as well as what’s on community listings, social group discussions, private and group messaging facilities, profile personalization options, and more – with all features designed to facilitate a premium experience for people with low vision or blindness.

Guide Dogs client, David, signed up as a CatchUp member earlier this year and described the hub as a space that “breaks down some of the personal isolation of being blind”, providing the opportunity to “meet new like-minded people and maybe make a friend or two”.

Guide Dogs Australia says that as an organization that strives to offer the best experience, service and support for people with low vision or blindness, it is committed to enhancing the CatchUp platform for its members, with additional features such as a welcome tour to assist in locating the platform’s top features now part of the digital hubs functionality.

“In an effort to enable even greater connections within the CatchUp Community, Guide Dogs has also introduced member polls, as well as the ability to comment on articles and ‘like’ comments from other members,” says Guide Dog.

Guide Dogs Australia says the CatchUp digital hub is not only for Guide Dogs clients but welcomes everyone in the community, including families, friends, health professionals and vision industry organisations.

“Designed with the voice of its members in mind, the future of the platform will be shaped by client feedback, requests, and trends to help facilitate the best possible user experience,” Guide Dogs concluded.
