Beat the heat this weekend by revisiting the music of The Grateful Dead, disc golf for Russell Rescue or enjoy a nice cold one as part of a special “brew tour.”
1. The Stolen Faces for CASA at The Factory
See the music of The Grateful Dead recreated live this Friday as The Factory at Columbia hosts a special benefit concert featuring The Stolen Faces.
The group returns to Mule Town starting at 6 pm Friday for a groovy night of classic music, with proceeds benefiting nonprofit CASA of Maury County.
For those who don’t know the work CASA does, the nonprofit provides advocates to children in the juvenile court system, many who come from broken homes, or have been abused and neglected.
The concert will also include food provided by The Dotted Lime and drinks from Fuzzy Duck Liquors, among several other local sponsors pitching in.

2. Mule Town Free for All for Russell Rescue
Columbia loves dogs, and what better way to show your support for the pups than a fun day tossing discs at the park?
Columbia Parks and Recreation will present a special PDGA tournament this weekend at Woodland Park, titled “Mule Town Free-for-All for Russell Rescue.” The animal rescue aims to adopt and care for dogs who might be abused, injured or are older in need of a forever home.
Reservations are $10 to secure your spot in the tournament, while other donations are welcome as well.
The tournament will start at the Kiwanis Shelter, located near hole 12, with check in starting between 8:15-9 am Saturday, which will be followed by a player meeting at 9:15 am Players will tee off starting at 9:30 am
3. Cruisin’ the Co-op
It’s that time of the month to dust off those old and vintage cars and gather for a night of fun at the Columbia Farmers Co-op, 975 Riverview Lane, for another exciting Cruisin’ The Co-op.
Browse among dozens of classic cars and trucks, enjoy food trucks and a whole lot more this weekend, with the event running from 5-8 pm Friday.
4. Do South Tours Brew & Distillery Tour
One thing that has made its mark in Maury County over the last few years is the growing distillery and craft brew industries, and this weekend is your chance to get the full spectrum of what’s available locally.
Do South Tours will host a special Brew & Distillery Tour, which kicks off at 1 pm Saturday at Asgard Brewing Co. & Taproom, 104 E. 5th St.
The tour will take patrons from Asgard to the Columbia Arts Building, where they can enjoy the latest concoctions from Bad Idea Brewing, later heading south to Big Machine Distillery, with a pit stop in Lynnville for lunch.
The tour will then head back to Columbia to conclude at about 5 pm
